Filipino vlogger and florist Carmelito Paredes Carom, popularly known online as “Losamath,” was discovered deceased in his Riyadh residence during the early hours of June 4, 2025. Authorities believe the cause to be suicide and have ruled out any foul play.
Carom rose to fame on TikTok for his comedic sketches featuring a character named “Madam,” in which he humorously portrayed customer interactions at his flower shop. His lighthearted content gained widespread appeal during the pandemic, resonating not only with fellow Filipinos but also with Saudis who would visit his workplace to meet him and take photos.
Although cross-dressing is typically at odds with Saudi Arabia’s conservative dress norms, Carom faced no penalties, as police confirmed that he filmed his videos only after working hours with the cooperation of his colleagues. In recent years, the Kingdom has eased some dress code regulations, especially for women, showing increased tolerance as long as public modesty is observed.
In his final social media message, Carom wrote, “Panginoon, ikaw na bahala sa pamilya ko” (“Lord, I leave my family in your hands”), which raised alarm among his followers. His last known public interview was in September 2024, where he candidly spoke about his hidden struggles. “‘Lord, I offer my life to you’—such a beautiful song… People always think I’m happy, but deep inside, I carry many problems,” he said, revealing the emotional weight beneath his cheerful persona.
The news of Carom’s passing has sent shockwaves through the Filipino community in Saudi Arabia, where over 800,000 overseas workers are now mourning the loss of a beloved compatriot.
