Forty-nine overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), along with two dependents, have been repatriated from Jeddah and Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, and were immediately provided with comprehensive government support upon their arrival, following the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
The returning workers were among those who had been staying in Bahay Kalinga shelters after encountering difficulties in their employment abroad. Many of them sought government help to reunite with their families in the Philippines.
The group arrived in Manila on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, in two separate flights: 17 OFWs from Al Khobar on Qatar Airways Flight QR932, and 32 OFWs with two dependents from Jeddah on Saudia Airlines Flight SV870.
They were welcomed at the airport by OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan, together with representatives from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and OWWA. Each repatriate received immediate financial assistance through the DMW AKSYON Fund, as well as temporary housing, transportation to their home provinces, and other forms of government support.
Medical screenings were also conducted by the MIAA Medical team, while referrals were made to relevant agencies to assist the OFWs in achieving long-term and sustainable reintegration back into Philippine society.
This repatriation effort was coordinated by the Philippine Embassy and Migrant Workers Offices in Saudi Arabia, reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensure that no Filipino worker abroad is left without help and that all distressed OFWs are safely brought home.
