In a bid to enhance convenience and accessibility, the Philippine Embassy has introduced a pilot “e-Notary” service available through its official website. This initiative is designed to modernize consular services and provide faster, more efficient assistance to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and other Filipinos abroad.
Through this service, OFWs can now request notarization for certain affidavits and legal documents online. The process involves submitting scanned copies of the required documents and scheduling a virtual appointment with consular staff. Once verified, the notarized document will be released without the need for repeated physical visits to the Embassy for simple transactions.
The e-Notary service aims to reduce long queues, save travel time, and minimize costs for OFWs who often face challenges in balancing their work schedules with consular appointments. It also represents a step forward in the Philippine government’s efforts to digitize public services, making them more responsive to the needs of Filipinos overseas.
If the pilot phase proves successful, the Embassy plans to expand the scope of documents that can be processed electronically, paving the way for broader digital transformation in consular assistance.
