Repatriation Story: 49 OFWs Return from Saudi Arabia with Full Support

In late August 2025, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), in partnership with OWWA and the Philippine embassies in Riyadh and Jeddah, successfully repatriated 49 distressed OFWs, including children and dependents.

Seventeen OFWs flew in from Al Khobar, while another 32 (plus two dependents) arrived from Jeddah. Upon arrival at NAIA, they were welcomed by government staff and immediately given access to the AKSYON Fund—covering transportation back to their home provinces, temporary housing, and direct cash assistance to help them reintegrate.

Many of the returnees had endured months of contract violations, unpaid wages, and poor living conditions. With their return, the government emphasized a “whole-of-government approach” to support OFWs—ensuring they don’t just arrive home safely but are also assisted in starting fresh.

👉 Why it matters: Repatriation programs show distressed OFWs and their families that they will not be left behind, no matter the challenges they face abroad.
